Therapy Approaches

Mindfulness

Mindfulness focuses on learning how to be more aware of thoughts feelings, emotions, surroundings, and situations, and to reduce automatic responses.

Psychotherapy & Counseling

Counseling is a brief treatment that targets a specific symptom or situation, while psychotherapy is a longer-term treatment that attempts to gain more insight into someone's problems.

Relational

We want to assist you to better understand how your mind, body, and interpersonal life can work together to relieve your emotional pain and to create opportunities to make lasting changes in your life. No relationship avoids problems and hardships. We all need support through the different seasons of relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral

CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. Trauma Focused- CBT for ages 3-18.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a guiding style of communication, that sits between following (good listening) and directing (giving information and advice). MI is designed to empower people to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance and capacity for change. MI is based on a respectful and curious way of being with people that facilitates the natural process of change and honors client autonomy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a form of short-term therapy that aims to improve couple relationships by rekindling the physical and emotional bond that can get sacrificed to disappointment in a partner and alienation from them, a common dynamic in distressed couples.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD that have developed after experiencing a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape and natural disasters.

CPT is generally delivered over 12 sessions and helps patients learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. In so doing, the patient creates a new understanding and conceptualization of the traumatic event so that it reduces its ongoing negative effects on current life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach intended to treat psychological disorders, to alleviate human suffering and to assist you in fulfilling your potential for development, while minimizing risks of harm in its application.
